What is WiFi-6-Here’s everything you need to know

Huawei Company these days become more innovative as they bring reverse charging and now thinking about WIFI-6 technology. But Samsung ace the Huawei as they bring WIFI 6 for the first time in Samsung Galaxy S10 series handsets.

In order to keep pace with the 5G technology, WiFi 5 has been upgraded to Wifi 6. As WiFi Alliance created this new platform thus, the number of 5G oriented smartphone can run it at the end of this year. If you want a good read about WiFi 6, then you’re in the right place. Today, we, TechT20 team will unleash what is WiFi 6 and facts and features of it.

WiFi 6 is the next-gen version of WiFi. It lets you connect to the internet and surf through the web. In a nutshell, it is the WiFi connection with some extra additional features and technologies that make it more powerful and fast. WiFi is getting faster day by day, and who doesn’t want top speed?  Everyone wants faster internet service as we have bandwidth-hungry apps, games, videos with our laptops and phones.

But the next-gen WiFi 6 isn’t your mainstream WiFi that only is about simple speed boost. Of course, it is different than any other WiFi out there and we’re getting to see its benefits more and more.

If you want a complete but short answer, then it would be 9.6 Gbps while the WiFi had up from 3.5 Gbps. If you are talking about the real-world WiFi use, both the speeds are theoretical maximums. And to be honest, you actually don’t need such speed even if you reach these. In the US the typical download speed is just 72 Mbps or theoretically 1 percent of the maximum speed.

But then again, the fact that WiFi 6 has such amazing speed limit than its predecessors is really important.  When you’re going to split the whole speed across a whole network of devices, this 9.6 Gbps of speed will come handy. So it’s not just about using WiFi 6 on a single computer.

WiFi 6 is taking the help of two technologies to have more speed: MU-MIMO (multi-user, multiple unite, multiple outputs) and OFDMA.

Modern routers and devices already use MU-MIMO but you can have an upgraded version of MU-MIMO only by using WiFi 6. Normally routers used to broadcast to one device, and the next and then the next. But with MU-MIMO routers will now connect to multiple devices at the same time. Routers used to communicate with four devices at a time. But now with WiFi 6 and MU-MIMO teamed up, routers will now connect to eight devices at the same time।

WiFi 6 isn’t just about having speed and we clarified it on the top. For individual devices, instead of just boosting the speed, WiFi 6 also makes sure you get improved network when you’ll connect a bunch of devices together. Your router can communicate with so many devices at once, right? It’s a basic idea that the more gadgets using your WiFi, the more the network is going to slow down.

WiFi 6 is trying to solve this issue. It has some new technologies that help to reduce this issue when you’ll connect a lot of devices with it. WiFi 6 lets the router to communicate with more devices at once. Furthermore, the routers will be able to send data to multiple devices in the same broadcast. Besides, the devices will be able to schedule check-ins with the router. In a complete package, these features will keep the connection strong even if you’re using a lot of devices.

WiFi 6 has another amazing new technology that allows devices to communicate with the router. We know the antennas need to be powered on to transmit and search for signals. WiFi 6 reduces the amount of time in this case. This means less drainage of batteries along with improved battery life.

How is this possible? Well, there’s this new technology called the Target Wake Time, which lets you the routers do the work.

But we don’t think it’s going to be that helpful as your laptop needs constant internet access. It is actually for smaller low-power WiFi devices that update their status now and then. For example, you can use the help in case of using a small sensor that is used to monitor leaks at home. Or this can be used for smart home devices as well.

WiFi 6 makes sure you get better security as well. We all know that WiFi has started getting the biggest security update in a decade last year. It’s using the help of the new security protocol called WPA3.

With the WPA3 being around, hackers will find it harder to crack the password. Furthermore, even if hackers become successful enough to get some data, it’s gonna be of no use as WPA3 already made it less useful. Though WPA3 is an optional feature, current devices and routers can support it. You’ll need WPA3 so that your WIFi 6 device receive certification from the WiFi Alliance. This ensures stronger security for a WiFi 6 device once it obtains the certification.

WiFi 6 is the latest WiFi version right now, so it’s obvious that you need to buy new devices to get WiFi 6. The reason for this is, the WiFi generation depends on not only software updates but also new hardware. So buying new phones, laptops and so on is a must to get WiFi 6. Don’t get us wrong as we’re not saying that you’ll just run to a store now and buy a new phone or laptop to get WiFi 6. Rather, we’re saying that the new devices that are coming in the future are having WiFi 6 by default.

By the way, there’s one thing you actually need to buy: a router. If your router doesn’t support WiFi 6, then having devices with WiFi 6 support is of no use.
